Orthodukso Viswasam

'Orthodukso Viswasam' is a song used in our Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church after the Gospel reading on Sundays where we are to remember the fathers and teachers of the Church. I've been going to the Orthodox church all my life, but to be honest I've never heard it :( This video in particular has such a beautiful, peaceful effect (once you tune out the crowd noise), especially when the female voice harmonizes with those of Diju Skariah, Sanish Jacob Thomas and Tenny Thomas.

The Saints mentioned in the song (pg 366 in the Living Sacrifice book, 6th edition) are St Ignatious, St Thevodosios, St Cyril, St Ivanios, St Baselios, St Gregorios, St Discoros, St Clemis, St Philexinos and St Severios.

Is this hymn actually referring to St Thevodosios? The lyrics of the hymn says: "jnarnnava theologos". Translated Theologos the sea of knowledge. There are only two saints referred to as Theologos: St.John the Theologian. He is the evangelist, disciple of Jesus and the author of the Gospel. Then the other one is St.Gregory the Theologian also known as Gregory of Nazianzus. I was always thinking that by Theologos this hymn is referring to either St.John or to St.Gregory.
Do you think the hymn is referring to Theodosius?

From Tenny Thomas:

"The Fathers mentioned in the song 'Orthoduxo Wishwasam' - Ignatius of Antioch, next should be Theologos - but somehow it gets pronounced Thevologos - this is none other than Gregory the Theologian (Gregory of Nazianzus) - he is always called Theologos = Theologian, Cyril of Alexandria, Golden Mouth Ivanios (Chrysosotom), Basil, Gregory of Nyssa (Basil's Brother), Dioscoros 1 (Patriarch of Alexandria in the 5th Century), Cleemis ( this is Clement but because the name is mentioned after all the others and before Philoxenos of Mabbug and Severus of Antioch, I am not sure which Clement this is - cause there is Clement of Rome (should have been mentioned after Ignatius of Antioch cause he was an apostolic father and in the 1st century) or Clement of Alexandria (2nd Century father).

We also have to bear in mind that there are so many fathers who are not listed like Alexander of Aexandria, Athanasius, etc, so I just think the names were added to fit the song. This is just my observation."
