Remember our faithful departed one, Fr. James Pike ...

My brother lives in Seattle, and he shared the sad news that Fr. James Pike passed away.

As I write this, the new website for St Gregorios/Spokane (http://www.stgregoriosspokane.org) is not yet completed, but there is a bit of history and a few pictures at the old site.

A website can and will never do justice to the amazing work done by our Church through the tireless efforts of Fr Hatcher, Fr Pike, Dn Pike and the members in the Northwest. However, it does give a glimpse of the unrealized potential of our Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in the rest of America and around the world.

For reasons I will never be able to understand or accept, we keep our attention on the politics in Kerala. Week by week, we use the same tired excuses that our Church cannot change because we are Malayalee.

Fr Pike's life is a testimony that Christ and His Church truly has no boundaries, ethnic or otherwise. I'm saddened most because I never met this amazing man in person. Please do remember him and his family in prayer.

Again we remember all our faithful departed ones, who have passed away in love and are rest with You, O God, Lord of both the spirits and of all the flesh. We pray and beseech Christ, our God, who has received to Himself their spirits and their soul, that He may according to his abundant mercies, account them worthy of the remission of debts and the forgiveness of sins, and that He may make us and them to attain Your Heavenly Kingdom. Kurielaison!

From Deacon Gabriel Pike (brother of Fr James Pike):

"My brother spoke many times on the subject of servanthood and how Christ manifested His love for the Church by serving it. You would honor him by doing something special for the Church or some other person who needs to be served sometime this next week."
